I've Been Everywhere Man

I have been spending the last few days as follows: swimming laps(see last post), catching up on season 3 of Teen Wolf and packing my suitcase.  Tomorrow is the big day.  I get on a plane to head to The Lone Star State (a.k.a. Texas).  I'm  traveling with my youth group from church and I will return next Sunday.  Two reasons I'm letting you know. One, I wont be posting another article until then.  Two, I wanted to talk about traveling.
Overall, I absolutely  love traveling! There is nothing better than seeing the sights and being immersed into new cultures.  As a child my family did a ton of traveling.  Every year we ventured somewhere new.  Whether it was Spring, Summer, Thanksgiving or Winter Break we would all pack into the car or all rush off to the airport and vacation all over the world including Key West, Alabama, Maryland, New Mexico, NYC, Colorado, Chicago, California, and Germany.  So basically I was born a traveler.  The experiences were different everywhere we went.  We stayed in five-star hotels, motels, and family friends' homes.  Personally I enjoyed strutting down the streets of the Big Apple to touring the adobe houses of Native Americans but both activities made me into a cultured girl.  Honestly I don't mind living out of a suitcase or long car rides or flight delays.  It is all worth it to be able to have experiences that mold you and create memories that last a lifetime (not to sound too cliché).  I've grown up with the thought that it's better to spend you time, money, and effort into experiences rather than things because everything you do changes you.  I find it so cool that when I hear about unique destinations I can say, "I've been there, I've done that," or I can say, "I will go there, I will do that."
As I head to Texas new adventures await, and memories are to be made.  On that note, I hope everyone has a splendid vacation and safe travels.

Swimming the English Channel

On Sunday I got a crazy idea.  To swim the English Channel this summer.  Not so much as to literally swim it (although maybe eventually) but to swim the distance of the English Channel, 21 miles, in my backyard.  After crunching the numbers using the distance of my pool, 34 ft, to the channel I deduced it would be 1630 laps to swim, a lap being twice the length of my pool.  Both my dad and I are swimming the 1630 laps.  It has become a little competition to see who can finish the fastest.  Every day I try to get in the pool at least once and I chart my distance on a map of the channel.
So here's to reaching my goals and swimming the English Channel.  What are your goals for the summer?

National Wear Your Lilly Day

The first day of summer, known to southern preps as National Wear Your Lilly Day, marks the beginning of the season of shorts, swimming, and sun tans.  Living in the hot and humid Florida, my summer will be filled with trips to the beach to lie in the sand and surf the waves.  The first day of summer is always my favorite as is falls two days after my birthday and although the weather makes it feel like summer began with the start of May, June 21st is the official beginning of the sunny days to come.  Having just turned 16 and having passed my driving test, I plan to exercise my new found freedom by driving all around town this summer and spending my days shopping at the mall and getting fro-yo.
But more importantly I plan on blogging frequently the entire summer.  I want to use this blog as an outlet for all my thoughts and opinions that I feel like sharing with the world.  The posts will get better once I find something to write about, I promise.  I just wanted to say welcome to my blog and I look forward to talking to you.  On that note, I will leave you with my favorite Lilly Pulitzer outfits taken from my tumblr dashboard.
